Top Eyeliner Hacks You Should Know About
We must agree that pulling off the perfect cat eye look can seem fierce but it could drive you crazy. However, small hacks are highly beneficial and make a huge difference. This article lists some professional eyeliner hacks for everyday use. Try these hacks to avoid disasters and achieve the ultimate winged perfection.
Translucent powder
To begin with, always dust on some translucent powder, powder shadow, or powder foundation first before applying liquid or cream eyeliner to your lids. This helps in absorbing natural oils on the surface of the lids, and also helps avoid fading and smearing of the liner.
Single stroke
Applying the eyeliner in one stroke would be ideal but it is easier said than done! You could keep trying and mastering it. Try tracing the lash line first, then flick out the wing and finally graze the top to form a line that connects the two. Finally, smooth everything out.
Thin lines
Never draw a thick line even when you want a super dramatic effect. Always start with a thin line. You could always add to bulk it up. Also, you will never get the effect you wanted by using a dried-up liner or an old frayed brush. Toss out those old brushes and trace your lashes with fresh ones to create rich and opaque lines.
Open eyes
Most of us need to close our eyes when we apply the eyeliner, but doing so can prevent symmetry. Try to keep your eyes open and look into the mirror to see how the eyeliner will look. In case it does not come out right, there’s no need to take it all off and start over again. Instead, just fold a makeup wipe in half, creating a straight edge, and glide it across your liner as needed, like an eraser, to create the shape you desire.
Experiment with tools
Experiment with your cat-eye tools. It takes a little trial and error to find the perfect formula and applicator that suits you. Using any old liner won’t help at all. Also, instead of randomly testing out a cat-eye for the first time just before an event, always practice beforehand. It would be ideal to experiment before you remove your makeup before going to bed, as there would be less pressure to get the look right.
Never hurry
Do not ever make the mistake of rushing it with your eyeliner. If you are in a hurry, it is not the best time to wing your liner. You could take more time than expected to perfect the wing. Because even when the line is the perfect thickness and the wings are even, there could be bare spaces. Check in the mirror to look for sparse areas between the lashes and the line or any place where the liner may have skipped. Only a completely opaque and filled in cat-eye would have the maximum impact.
Use mirrors
Finally, always use a bathroom or a large vanity mirror. It should be large enough so that you can see your entire face to help you paint wings symmetrically. It is nearly impossible to create even wings when you are unable to see with both eyes at the same time when you use a small mirror like a compact mirror. Your flicks would just not line up.
